A wide straight jean crafted from 15oz Seigaiha slub denim. The Seigaiha pattern — an endlessly spreading wave motif — carries a wish for lasting peace and prosperity and has long been considered a symbol of good fortune. Inspired by this traditional motif, the design is based on the S3000VXII, a wide straight jean modeled after WWII-era specifications. The red sunrise button pays tribute to the sun rising brilliantly over a calm sea.
To express the flowing rhythm of the Seigaiha pattern through denim, a new indigo fabric with a refined slub character was developed. The warp uses a specially irregular No.5 count indigo yarn dyed by rope dyeing, while the weft uses a denser No.8 indigo yarn dyed by a different method, resulting in a deeper, richer shade. The fabric is woven slowly on vintage looms at 15oz.
The slightly finer weft against the No.5 warp accentuates the slub character and the strong blue of the warp. As the warp and weft fade at different rates over time, the deeper indigo of the weft gradually becomes more prominent, creating a richer, more complex aging process.
