ISHIKAWADAI Denim "SUVIN GOLD" Wide Fit

Made from 100% SUVIN GOLD, a rare extra-long staple cotton grown in India, this premium model expands BIG JOHN's ISHIKAWADAI Denim series with a relaxed wide silhouette.

Fabric

The yarn is slowly spun on a vintage Ishikawadai ring spinning machine manufactured in 1953. This low-speed process helps preserve the natural softness and deep luster of SUVIN GOLD while creating gentle irregularity, volume, and character that cannot be easily reproduced with modern high-speed spinning.

SUVIN GOLD cotton from the first and second harvests is blended with SUVIN GOLD waste cotton, combining the smooth hand and refined luster of extra-long staple cotton with the natural hairiness and rugged texture expected from denim.

The warp yarn is rope dyed with pure indigo and woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms into 14oz selvedge denim. The naturally colored weft has a subtle brown cast, giving the fabric added depth and a vintage-like appearance.

Design / Fit

The wide fit provides generous room through the waist, thighs, and knees while maintaining a balanced shape that avoids feeling overly bulky. The result combines the presence of classic denim with a silhouette that works naturally with modern styling.

Finish / Aging

The denim is left unsanforized and unskewed, allowing natural shrinkage, twisting, surface hairiness, creasing, and fading to develop through wear and washing. This model comes RINSE / ONE WASH, reducing the initial stiffness while retaining the natural character of the fabric.

As the jeans are worn and washed, the indigo gradually changes in tone while creases, twisting, and high-wear areas create a unique fade pattern shaped by the wearer.

Original Details

The pocket lining uses a heavyweight 10oz olive oxford fabric inspired by the Ishikawadai spinning machine. The jeans also feature BIG JOHN original copper rivets, an original zip fly, a black rayon label, a SUVIN GOLD orange label, and a custom cowhide vegetable-tanned leather patch stamped with the "Four Crown" design.

A "SUVIN COTTON 100%" safety label highlights the exclusive use of SUVIN GOLD cotton, while the custom flasher features imagery inspired by cotton harvesting in India.
