Tanuki's Sazanami 漣 jacket has landed. 漣 translated to 'waves that stand in fine ripples' which describes this jacket perfectly as we will explain below:
It is based on a corduroy fabric that was very popular in Japan in the 90s which Tanuki found in the archives. Instead of simply reproducing it
they decided to have experiment with it and add some unique dyes to this sturdy corduroy. This fabric are pigment-dyed with three botanical dyes:
Mud Dyed Brown
Natural Indigo Dyed Blue
Yamamomo (Bayberry) Dyed Green
Tanuki have been killing it with botanical dyes lately and this is just another example of their craftsmanship.
To add to the premium flair
these are fully lined with made in Japan Ventile fabric which makes the jacket windproof and water resistant.
The buttons are made from military grade Urea and custom made mil-spec ribs are of the highest quality.
In terms of cut
this is a bomber jacket in a contemporary cut. Slightly box with dropped shoulders
inlays below the shoulders for additional mobility and a shawl collar. Two handwarmer pockets and one zipped inner pocket.
The Sazanami jacket combines Tanuki's love for ancient dyes and contemporary post-heritage menswear.
