TRL-08 Humming Bird Horsehide Jacket

This signature piece is built on the silhouette of a 1940s sports jacket, crafted in TROPHY’s original horsehide. The back panel is especially luxurious—cut by hand by a skilled artisan after carefully selecting the right area of the hide, then used as a single, uninterrupted piece.

Details include an original fan-shaped zipper pull engraved with “TROPHY,” and a patterned original iron buckle used on the side straps. Inside the sleeve cuffs, a hidden wool rib is added for comfort and insulation. The collar shape, armhole design for easier movement, and the hem cinch have all been thoughtfully refined.

Since its first release in 2012, the design has stayed true to its original concept—pairing naturally with work, military, and classic styling, and earning long-term support for its rugged, masculine presence.

Buying it is only the starting point. Wear it for 5, 10, even 20 years, and it will develop a one-of-a-kind expression that can’t be replicated.

A rare saddle portion of horsehide is split down to 1.3mm. The hide is heavily oiled in its raw stage before being split, resulting in a supple, flexible feel. Horsehide often carries more small marks than cowhide, and it is commonly chrome-tanned to mask them—but this leather is intentionally finished in a more natural direction, using carefully selected hides and traditional full vegetable tanning to bring out an honest, organic surface.

For both colors, the base is dyed brown first, then only the surface is dyed to create depth and richer aging. This traditional tannin “surface dye” method is considered one of the oldest finishing techniques.
