SSS26-AT Tropical Weather Long Sleeve Shirt
This work shirt is made from a lightweight, highly breathable tropical fabric inspired by vintage military textiles developed for hot climates. Workwear details include partial double-needle stitching and reinforced elbow patches for added durability.
Fabric
The fabric was developed by studying military textiles made for tropical climates more than half a century ago and combining their structure with Japanese weaving techniques. Similar to a Panama weave, it features an open, mesh-like construction with natural irregularity from slub yarns, allowing air to pass through easily for greater comfort in warm weather.
The weave was further refined at a century-old mill in Japan's Banshu region using specialized techniques to create even greater breathability. Variations in weave density are intentionally distributed throughout the fabric. During dyeing, the lower-density areas absorb more color while the higher-density areas remain lighter, creating subtle shadow-like patterns across the surface.
