TCB Cat Head Jacket Hickory
Fabric
This fabric is developed with vintage references in mind—refining everything from the yarn irregularity (slub) profile to the shade and dyeing method. Rather than relying on a single yarn count to create texture, it uses a blend of different yarns so each yarn’s character contributes to a deeper, more vintage-like surface.
- Warp: #8 straight yarn + #9 short-slub yarn (1:1)
- Weft: #12 natural slub yarn + #12 nep yarn (1:1)
- Total: 4 different yarn types blended for layered texture and depth
Dyeing
The color is intentionally kept slightly lighter, inspired by the understated tones often seen in old store-brand fabrics. Instead of leaving the weft natural (ecru), it is dyed gray while the warp is dyed on the lighter side.
This idea comes from period workwear fabrics where brands used different approaches to make dirt less noticeable. Some chose darker warp dyeing, while others used gray-dyed weft yarns to visually deepen the overall tone and reduce the appearance of stains.
Finishing
Because nep yarn is used for half of the weft, the fabric is left without singeing to preserve the natural texture and character of the fibers.
Sizing
The base sizing is modeled after TCB’s standard coverall, the Cathartt Chore Coat. Compared to a typical denim jacket, sizing preference depends on how you want it to fit, but we generally recommend choosing 1–2 sizes down.
