NORAGI ARMY SASHIKO
In the days when Japanese people still wore kimonos as everyday clothing, cotton garments were very valuable to the common people. They were essential for surviving both the heat and cold, and people would patch and reinforce their worn-out kimonos, reusing them again and again. These garments were never wasted, and their handmade warmth and unique patterns stood out with a beauty like no other. Dalchizan expresses this tradition of "Noragi Sashiko" through jacquard weaving. By using slub yarn in parts and blending it with other yarns, we create a worn, faded look. The stitching runs both vertically and horizontally, varying in direction and style to mimic the warmth of hand-sewn pieces. When washed, the fabric shrinks, creating intricate textures on the surface. Inspired by traditional Japanese workwear, Noragi has been recreated with the craftsmanship, wisdom, and pride of modern artisans to create this one-of-a-kind piece, "NORAGI SASHIKO."
