10/2 Extra Heavyweight Jersey Series
This series uses 10-count yarn twisted into double-ply (10/2), creating an extra-heavyweight jersey fabric. The yarn is open-end spun, also called air-spun, a method that twists fibers using air. This method allows for the use of thick, short fibers that are usually difficult to spin. The result is a slubby texture. The finished yarn also traps air, giving the fabric a dry feel.
Doubling the thick No. 10 yarn makes it equivalent to No. 5 yarn. It is strong enough to weave heavyweight denim and, when knitted into jersey, produces a rough, extremely durable fabric.
Note: This is jersey fabric, like that used for T-shirts. Unlike sweatshirt fabric, it does not have loops on the back.
