"The Great Monster War" was released in 1965. This film reflected the era with Godzilla doing the then-popular "Shie" dance. It depicted an epic battle between Godzilla, King Ghidorah, and Rodan on a planet's surface, observed by the cool-headed aliens, the Xilians, disguised as humans Indy and Clipper. The backside of the jacket shows Godzilla's attack on Osaka, capturing the fear and tension of citizens fleeing the sudden appearance of Godzilla in the bustling city.
Shortly after World War II, American soldiers stationed in Japan at the Yokosuka Naval Base ordered souvenir jackets from tailor shops, featuring oriental patterns or emblems representing their units and bases. This is considered the origin of the "sukajan" jacket. The front of the jacket features Indy and Clipper enjoying surfing on waves from Hokusai's "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji." The back showcases an artful rendition of Osaka's symbol, embroidered with a thick texture.
