TCB 10OZ Cathartt Painter Pants
Fabric & Design Inspiration

During our research, we learned that the heart-shaped buttons used on vintage workwear existed not only as change buttons but also as riveted types. This piece takes inspiration from 1930s Carhartt painter pants featuring the iconic single-color tag of that era. The distinctive “Mule Ear Pockets”—named for their resemblance to a mule’s ears—are faithfully reproduced here. This pocket style was not only used by Carhartt but also appeared on vintage workwear from brands such as Lee and Headlight.

The fabric is the same as our Carhartt JK, allowing you to wear the two as a coordinated set, almost like a workwear suit. The warp uses 7-count natural slub yarn, while the weft uses a finer 16-count yarn with slightly fewer picks, creating a subtle, naturally uneven texture without looking artificial. By using finer weft yarns, the irregularity of the warp stands out more clearly, giving this 10oz 2×1 denim a strong vertical fade character.

For the dye, we use 100% synthetic indigo with no mixed shades to keep the color pure. Because the number of dye dips is fewer than those used in 1920s XX denim, the fabric has a naturally brighter tone.

Model: 169cm / 59kg — wearing size 28 for a just-right fit. Compared to regular jeans, the fit runs slightly larger, but the rise is not as deep as typical painter pants. We recommend choosing your size based on the inner waist measurement of your favorite jeans.

- 100% Cotton
- Made in Japan
