This open-collar shirt is made from lightweight cotton-linen canvas and finished with hand-dyed kakishibu. The crisp texture characteristic of cotton-linen fabric is intentionally not dyed evenly, emphasizing the natural unevenness and texture unique to hand dyeing and creating a one-of-a-kind presence. Nut buttons are used. Experience the natural strength expressed through kakishibu, one of Japan's traditional dyeing techniques.

HAND-DYED

KAKISHIBU-ZOME

手染め柿渋

"Kakishibu" (persimmon tannin dye) is a traditional Japanese dye made from a natural material. Its history dates back more than 900 years to the Heian period, and the dyeing technique has been passed down through generations. It is said that its use for clothing began with samurai and mountain ascetics who wore reddish-brown garments dyed with kakishibu. Kakishibu has also been used as a traditional herbal remedy and is known for its antibacterial and deodorizing properties. Kakishibu dyeing is also known as "sun dyeing." Exposure to sunlight and air promotes oxidation, allowing the color to deepen over time and develop a rich, unique character. One of its appeals is that the more it is worn and used, the more you can enjoy its aging process as it develops into a color of its own. The kakishibu dye used for this collection is made from persimmons aged for more than three years. The fabric is repeatedly soaked in kakishibu, wrung out, and dried in direct sunlight, gradually developing a deep, rich color. Rather than being dyed evenly, the uneven tones and texture unique to hand dyeing are intentionally created. This is a technique that can only be achieved by craftsmen with extensive knowledge and experience in kakishibu dyeing. Experience the natural strength expressed through kakishibu, one of Japan's traditional dyeing techniques.
