Founded in the 40th year of the Meiji era, 'Matsumidou' is a specialist confectionery shop in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, known for its creative chestnut sweets, including the renowned local delicacy 'Kuri Kinton' (Sweet Chestnut Paste). Nakatsugawa, blessed with abundant mountain resources, has a long history of harvesting wild chestnuts, which are used in various dishes and sweets. Amidst the many chestnut-related shops in Nakatsugawa, Matsumidou stands out for its traditional methods, meticulously crafting chestnut confections using local chestnuts and delivering them nationwide.

Matsumidou's 'Kuri Kinton Yōkan' is a unique chestnut confection that combines smooth and moist 'Kuri Kinton'—a chestnut sweet made with great care from fresh chestnuts—with a subtly sweet Yōkan layer. It represents the essence of chestnuts from Nakatsugawa, known for their smooth texture and delightful flavors. This innovative Yōkan allows you to savor both the smooth texture of sweet bean paste and the moist 'Kuri Kinton,' all in one traditional Japanese confection.

The 'Kuri Kinton' is made in the traditional way, preserving the natural goodness, rustic aroma, and texture of chestnuts. Occasionally, you may find chestnut skins in it, but please enjoy them as part of the authentic chestnut flavor.
