In the 1960s, when Japan’s denim culture began to take shape, BIG JOHN helped build the foundation of made-in-Japan jeans by working with denim imported from the United States. The SL VINTAGE Series revisits that origin and reconstructs the essence of vintage jeans with a modern sensibility.
The fabric is a 12oz selvedge denim woven on a vintage TOYODA shuttle loom.

The design is based on a classic pleated trucker jacket with a comfortable amount of room in the body. While the fabric is relatively lighter at 12oz, it balances toughness and a clean appearance, fitting a wide range of everyday situations. A subtle selvedge detail is placed inside the front placket—an understated detail that reflects BIG JOHN’s attention to craftsmanship even in unseen areas.
