Customisation

Chain-stitching is a hemming method that chains two threads together to create a more durable and flexible hem with a "roping" effect after being washed or soaked. The Union Special is one of the original machines used to create a chain-stitch hem on denim. You need to enter the final length of the inseam you want to have. https://www.denimio.com/default/chain-stitch-hemming/CHAIN-STITCH-HEMMING.html
We use single stitch if it is single at the beginning. We will make sure the hemming is same as the original style.
For overseas orders, hemming fee is charged according to the currency set for your shipping country.
https://www.denimio.com/default/chain-stitch-hemming/CHAIN-STITCH-HEMMING.html
Hemming is complimentary for Japan domestic orders and Denimio in-store sales.
It depends on the hemming length as well as the cut.
If the jeans are tapered cut, the leg opening difference after hemming can be from minimal to huge.
If the jeans are straight cut, the leg opening difference after hemming is quite minimal.
You need to enter the final length of the inseam in cm you want to have. Please consider the shrinkage when deciding the inseam length of raw/non-wash denim. https://www.denimio.com/default/chain-stitch-hemming/CHAIN-STITCH-HEMMING.html
Hemming will be completed within 3-7 days after your request is placed.
Yes, please be assured that we always include the cut part of the hem with our products.
Silkscreening jeans is a custom process that can only be done in the Momotaro factory which mean we do not accept request to silkscreen non-Momotaro jeans. For more details, please check here.

Product Information

All items we sell are 100% guaranteed to be brand new and authentic.
We are an official, authorized seller of Japanese denim brands and receive products directly from manufacturers. In the rare instances when we don't receive them directly (e.g., proxy items), we get them from another official, authorized sellers that we are familiar with and know to be authentic. We have very long-standing relationships with brands we sell and the denim industry in Japan, so selling counterfeits is not an option for us. In addition, the making and selling of counterfeit products are tightly regulated and a serious crime in Japan, therefore you find no production nor supply for such products in Japan.
Unsanforized jeans are raw and in loom-state which will shrink by 1-2 inches, depending on the denim used. While sanforized jeans have undergone sanforization process so the shrinkage is very minimal.
Regular/Classic Fit: Straight classic style, not too wide and not too narrow. The legs are roughly the same size from the thigh to the ankle.
They're basically a tube of fabric (well, two tubes of fabric, joined together).
The classic straight fit is a classic precisely because it matches around 85% of men body.
Slim Fit: jeans have the least fabric in the rear panels, and the thigh openings are narrower than the regular fit. They're designed to hug your body. What is great about this style of jeans is that it allows you the freedom of movement while still aligning to the structure of your frame and making you look super stylish.
Best for: Average to Fit guys that don't have big thighs.
Skinny fit: For guys with skinny thighs and skinny calves.
True skinny fit jeans are meant for guys who basically have pencils for legs, they're roughly the same straight, slim shape from their thighs to their calves. They restrict your movement and mobility and so aren’t the most comfortable option available.
Best for: Guys who have really skinny legs all the way through.
Relaxed Fit: adds fabric in the back and extends the rise a little, as well as expanding the leg openings. We tend to associate them with overweight men, but they're just as useful for men with “footballer butt” — strong glutes and thighs paired with narrower waists and calves.
Best for: Athletic guys with large thighs, or larger guys in general
Boot cut: Jeans that have more room below the knee/calf area to accommodate cowboy boots. Unless you're rocking jeans in Texas, you don't need to be concerned with these.
Best for: Cowboys
Flare cut: is somewhat similar to bell cut but it's a bit slimmer on the thighs down to the knees then the hem is not that wide.
Rise:
5-8" ( 13 cm- 20,5cm) - Low rise, will sit low on the waist, more on the hip.
9-11" (23 cm - 28 cm) - Mid Rise, sits just under the belly button.
Over 12" (30 ) - High rise, sits at the waist, above the belly button
For unsanforized fabrics, leg twist is inevitable.
The more the shrinkage is the more the leg twist there will be. So for Oni since they shrink a lot due to the loose weave, they are most likely to have bad leg twist than fabrics that are tight weave like Samurai or SDA.
Here are some steps you can take to avoid the leg twist:
1. If you don't wash your jeans, there will be no leg twist for sure.
2. Avoiding hot soak will minimize the leg twist.
You may look either at jeans made of sanforized denim (for example: Momotaro or Japan Blue Jeans) or at jeans made of broken types of twill (for example Graph Zero (herringbone denim, hickory denim or GZ x Denimio broken twill collab). These types of fabric do not have a leg twist.
"The crooked seam" is a leg twist of jeans. This element can and should be on a diagonal twill with In fact this is not a defect but a feature of the classic raw denim.
Thicker denim is less likely to get creases. For the production of slubby denim, cotton with medium and short fiber is best suited (very often it is American and Australian cotton). Samurai Jeans, ONI, some Tanuki, SugarCane and Pure Blue tend to be slubby.
Type I jacket has front left pocket, silver buttons, knife pleats and cinch-back.
Type II jacket has 2 front pockets, silver buttons, knife pleats and waist straps.
Type III jacket (a.k.a. Trucker jacket) has 2 front pockets with pointed flaps, copper buttons, V-like design, and waist straps.

Sizing

The best advice for choosing the right size for raw jeans is to stick with the raw measurements and ignore the difference between raw and one-wash version. They are the exact same jeans with the same amount of cotton used and end up in similar size after you wear them for a while.

One wash starts at smaller measurements but they expand more than raw ones and end up in similar after all. So, the only difference is whether you want to enjoy the unwashed raw feeling in the beginning or you rather chose to skip the soak.

We noticed repeat customers start to realize that the jeans expand quite a lot over time (after several months) and they chose smaller size, whereas first timers tend to pick larger size. Repeat users target perfect fit at several months later when the jeans faded well and expanded well. First timers on the other hand target perfect fit at the start and usually end up using a belt when the fade gets nice.

If you want to target perfect fit at post fade, you should bare the uncomfortable months of wearing the jeans for the first several months (barely buttoned up and you cannot even sit during these months)If you don't like to go through this uncomfortable period, you should look at the one-wash measurements and find your size.

Anyways, it's up to your preference.
Our size charts (360 degree) are directly provided by the manufactures and they normally measure their jeans in a different way than most customers and retailers in US/Europe do. Most customers and retailers simply lay the jeans flat and go side to side with a measuring tape, then multiply by 2. (Flat method B)

But Japanese manufacturers usually put the tape inside of the jeans and use clips to make sure there is no gap between the tape and the surface of the jeans, and go 360 degree to get the EXACT length. The discrepancy between these two methods are about 3-5 cm and this is one of the major reason many customers end up choosing a size that is too small. So please make sure you measure your jeans with the 360 degree method if you are looking at the size charts in 360 degree method.

If flat method is available, this means we took measurements on our own on samples in our shop. However, please note that actual measurements may vary for each individual pair. This is due to the drying process of the product. In general, smaller pairs among the same size expand more and larger pairs expand less and overtime they end up in similar measurements as you wear in. After all, they are the same jeans produced with the same amount of cotton using the same patterns.

Please refer to the link below.
https://www.denimio.com/default/sizing-guide.html
No, measurements are based on averages taken from multiple pairs of the same size and style. As these garments are made by hand, measurements may vary slightly for each individual pair. Our posted measurements are meant as a guide to the overall fit and silhouette of the garment.

Repair & Care

Washing denim by machine is fine but you should just use low spin and avoid using a drier to avoid damage. Washing denim by hand is the ideal thing to do. Prepare a bathtub or container with cool or lukewarm water, about 3-4 inches deep. Don't use water with too hot temperature. The idea behind using lower temperature for your soak/wash is to minimize the fading of the indigo dye. Some recommend that the jeans be turned inside out for this process, however, we feel that it is optional. In order to keep the denim completely submerged, you may need to put heavier weights on it.
Put in very light detergent when soaking your denim. Avoid putting in any bleach as well. Let it soak for about 45 minutes to an hour, then hand wash them lightly.
You can use ordinary detergents as long as it's bleach free . Another option is to use specialized products recommended by jeans manufacturer for washing, such as Momotaro Jeans' SZ-001 Jeans detergent and Samurai's Kaminari soap.
Carefully remove from the water and hang dry. Always hang dry flat, and inside out. Don't place on a heat radiator, direct sunlight, use a dryer, or crumple when drying, as these will damage the fabric and ruin the fit, fade, contrast, and overall quality.
You can use a color-catcher each time you wash your denim. Another way to reduce washing machine friction is to select a shorter or gentler wash cycle than you typically use. Also, always wash your denim in cold water. Hot water opens up the fibers in your denim, where color can be washed away.
