Kakishibu-Dyed Indigo Sweatshirt
Made in Japan / 14.5oz Indigo Loopback Fleece / Garment-Dyed
This 14.5oz sweatshirt is knitted from 30/10 open-end yarns that have been indigo rope-dyed and tightly woven into a dense, durable loopback fleece. The use of open-end (air-spun) yarns traps air within each fiber, resulting in a dry, textured hand feel and a unique vintage-like appearance as the indigo fades with wear. The same yarn is also used for the ribbing to maintain consistency in texture and color.
Each garment is finished with a traditional Japanese Kakishibu (persimmon tannin) dye — a natural dyeing method that has been used since the Heian period. The tannins contained in Kakishibu provide antibacterial properties and enhance colorfastness, while gradually deepening the tone as the fabric ages, creating a one-of-a-kind patina over time.
Due to the use of natural dyes, slight color irregularities may occur — these are natural characteristics of the fabric’s hand-dyed beauty.
Note: Natural dyeing may cause slight color variation between garments. Please wash separately to avoid color transfer.
